Practice Pay Solutions (PPS) was founded in 1997 and is headquartered out of Hauppauge, New York. They are a registered ISO/MSP of Wells Fargo Bank. Practice Pay Solutions as a strong focus in the e-commerce field which is atypical of a lot of merchant service providers who put their focus on brick and mortar processing solutions. Their portfolio also includes mobile payment solutions and web based marketing tools aimed at driving a merchant’s business. While their costs are on the high side of the spectrum, they appear to be somewhat upfront with their rates and fees and also offer a “eUniversity” aimed at helping any merchant familiarize themselves with the world of credit card processing.
Practice Payment Solutions is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau but does have an A- rating with them. Although a business is under no obligating to become accredited, it always makes the business seem more reputable if they do. PPS more than made up for in the low amount of complaints filed. Over the past three years, PPS has only had two complaints filed against them, both of which have been resolved.
One complaint cited billing/collection issued while the other cited problems with product/ service. Only two complaints in three years is great to see with any business, especially in the merchant service industry where complaints are filed regularly. Other complaints boards have minimal to no complaints filed for PPS, which is also great to see.
Practice Payment Solutions as stated above seems to has a strong focus on the e- commerce field. Most of their website has to do with e-commerce payment solutions. This can be good and bad. The good part is it leads to a more centralized campaign which in turn yields less complaints and more support. It also means that businesses looking for alternative methods of accepting debit and credit cards are left behind. Like most merchant service providers, Practice Payment Solutions has an inside sales team as well as independent agents and an affiliate program. What’s nice to see is their “eUniversity” program which helps clients become educated in the credit card processing industry. This shows they have a strong customer focus.
Unfortunately, where Practice Payment Solutions falls short is their pricing structure. For new e-commerce, they offer a 3.1% & $0.30 discount rate with a $25 monthly fee and a $25 annual fee. For their mobile payment solution they offer a 3.1% & $0.35 discount rate with a $30 monthly fee. Although e-commerce rates will always be higher than swiped rates by default, these rates are still relatively high even for e-commerce.
